The Two Wildly Inappropriate Blake Lively Interviews No One Talks About
I owe everything to TikTok.
By now the “little bump” referenced around the world is old news, as are cringe-y Gossip Girl interviews and, of course, the overshare at the Forbes Power of Women Summit. And we’ve all heard Blake Lively use the word “amalgamation” numerous times with her chattery hands and clackety Lorraine Schwartz jewels.
What we haven’t seen, however (until my little TikTok sleuths plowed through the archives), are two interviews that just couldn’t possibly fly in 2025.
Look, whether you’re “Team Justin” or “Team Blake,” or whether you support “believing all women,” there’s no denying the level of unprofessionalism exhibited by Ms. Lively over the years. And it’s crazy to think that it wasn’t until recent years—with the rise of TikTok as a means to offer nuance and insight to every situation—that we’re finally seeing terrible people and situations for what they are.
Allow me to introduce you to interview No. 1… If you were doing a 1:1 interview and a celeb asked you to take your shirt off, what would you do? No, seriously… Like how would you react? Well, Blake told a male reporter to “take it off” during a Shallows junket because she wanted his shirt. She then egged him on in the most pick-me way by saying, “See, I take my shirt off in this movie, and my shorts, so it’s only fair.” The reporter then proceeded to take his shirt off. Seriously WTF.
I thought 1 was bad, but I think interview No. 2 is worse (you be the judge). Here, we have a sober Blake forcing her husband’s stupid gin down a reporter’s throat. There are three reporters in this video, in fact, but it’s the first that really gets the short end of the stick. Blake hijacks an A Simple Favor press junket to make it all about Aviation Gin. After openly stating that she doesn’t drink, she proceeds to tell a reporter to drink up, while going on a three-minute tangent about the formulation of the gin without juniper berry, and all the taste tests it’s won. And how she doesn’t like coffee either, but she loves the story of how it’s crushed up from beans. If you’re lost, it’s OK, I think we’re supposed to be. Her interviews are like the tail end of a sporting event when you’re trying to run down the clock so there’s real purpose except to kill time.
Who told her this behavior was acceptable? Was this actually considered cute and funny? If you are a publicist (whether talent, brand, or any of a sort), I want to know how you would have handled this, and vice versa as a journalist. I imagine these reporters felt extremely pressured to go along with the demands of this powerful Hollywood star.
Got any Blake tea I should share in my next post? Let me know.
In other news… I watched a healthy dose of TV tonight! It’s extremely rare for me, as I don’t own one and I haven’t been any sort of TV go-er since the final episode of The Hills ended in like… 2011? But I went to a friend’s house and we watched the first two eps of White Lotus (I agree with everyone that it’s good!), followed by the first episode of the “An Update on Our Family” docuseries. It was my idea to watch that one. I’d never heard of these people until their story broke during lockdown, and it became a fascinating human interest moment. I’d been anticipating the doc for a while, so I’m glad we watched the first ep, and I def want to see the rest. Family vloggers are whack. ALL.OF.THEM.
OK, LMK your thoughts on all things in the comments! x
Alright, I'm so tired of BL and her word salad BS.
There is NO SUCH THING as gin without juniper. As a matter of fact, gin MUST contain juniper to even LEGALLY be called gin. She is a moron, and she lies easily, obfuscating and manipulating discussions to the point where the listener just gives up. I think this is what she hopes to do with this lawsuit, and in the court of public opinion....... we'll see
Blake gives off hardcore “mean girl” vibes :/ We’ll never know what she’s truly like as a person. She might be a decent person who is just really bad at presenting her real self in public, who knows? But her PR team and lack of (or deliberate ignoring of) her media training are going to tank her career
