The Only 3 Reasons Why I'm Rejecting Your Legitimate Pitch
Read this so you can go back to your client with "feedback"
So you took my pitching advice, did ya? You filled an editorial bucket, you pitched a topic I actually do cover, and your pitch was concise with an obvious angle. Heck, you even included an “exclusive” tag! So it must be time to call your client, pop open the Dom, and celebrate what’s guaranteed to get your story off the ground. Right? Wrong. Very, very wrong. Sending out a “great pitch” (which is subjective by the way) isn’t even half the battle. It’s like a fourth of it.
Every editor’s preferences are different, so what may appeal to one may be an immediate pass to another. Also, each publication differs as well. Some operate solely on the news cycle, others on SEO and others somewhere in-between. But regardless of what publication I’m working with in the moment, there are three clear-cut reasons why I’ll immediately pass on a pitch without thinking twice about it.
