I'm on a Flight to Paris! Here's Why You Might Care ◡̈
This is actually really interesting, you guys.
I’m now offering an inexpensive paid subscription to my newsletter, which I spend a lot of time, expertise and passion writing each week. As a freelance journalist, every dollar helps. I’ll still provide some free content, of course—but I assembled a template you can send your employer if you want to pay a small fee for all the GOOD stuff.
Greetings from Air France! The incredible team at Merz Aesthetics put me on a direct business class flight to Paris. I’d be lying if I said I’ve flown like this internationally before. It’s amazing yet also rough because now I can’t imagine flying any other way. The staff is incredible and it’s taking me back to my cruise days, where they just feed you the entire time. There’ve also been endless offerings of champagne and wine, which I’ve respectfully declined because the point of this flight is to actually get work done so I’m not stressed when I land.
Ok, I promise the point of this post isn’t to flex. There’s actually great purpose. The reason I’m being flown out here is for the annual IMCAS, an international conference that spotlights the latest evidence-based techniques and newest developments in the world of aesthetics (injectables, plastic surgery, lasers, etc). This is a topic I’ve covered at length. You can read selects from my expert-led insight HERE and HERE. And ICYM my Substack devoted to the “fresh faces of Hollywood,” you can view it HERE.
This year’s conference focuses on the theme of confidence, with some of the biggest industry professionals in the world shedding light on the multifaceted topic. There are actually some names I recognize, and I’ll be conducting interviews over the course of my visit.
The reason I’m sharing this here is because it’s such a broad topic, and I’m wondering about your personal curiosities. What do YOU want to know about the future of aesthetics? Also, depending on your age, do you have specific questions tied to that? Personally, I want to know about longterm drawbacks for these teens and 20-somethings injecting their faces with filler. Going in the theme of confidence, I want to know if the majority of young people receive treatments because they feel insecure, or if they’re just trying to keep up with their peers/flex/show off signs of wealth? I also want to know what defines a “natural beauty” in 2025. And what treatments are males leaning towards?
Do I know exactly what to expect? I do not. But whatever treatments are expected to rise in the industry, I will hear it first this week. Editorial plans aside, I also plan on devoting a separate Substack to questions I don’t answer elsewhere. That’s why I encourage you to either message me your thoughts or leave them in the comments so other people can chime in, too.
Ok, I have six out of 10 hours left of my flight. It sounds like a lot, but I’m catching up on so much work in my cozy little cubicle that I’m actually cool with taking my time here. I’ve chugged six cups of coffee today and I still haven’t crashed (it’s only a matter of time though). I’m a little nervous to hail down a taxi when I land, but excited to check out my hotel (Hotel Brighton—are you familiar?) and unwind. I have the rest of the day/night to myself once I land at noon, so feel free to share any solo recs. I took a cute pic in the LAX bathroom, but I can’t upload the image from my flight. You can check it out on my IG stories though, where I’ll be sharing a bunch. I also want to speak French a little bit but it’s a little nerve-wracking. I do want to come off respectful though and put in a little effort. TBD.
And with that, it’s back to black (coffee, that is). On se parle plus tard!
P.s. You still have a tiny bit of time to contribute to the following articles:

Also… I’ll be attending Expo West in March as per usual (a prime highlight each year). I’ll be joined by two of my content creator friends, and we’re planning to make it an overnighter this year since there’s just way too much ground to cover in one day. That said, please message me if you work with any hotels in Anaheim (or neighboring cities). And, of course, if you’ll be there LET’S MEET UP!
