Dahvi's Weekend Debrief (6/15/25)
My magical moment with Kelly Taylor + Andrea Zuckerman, an afternoon with Molly Sims, a Pride party for the books at Soho House.
It was 90 degrees from my desk window all day, so I’d been going back and forth from my desk, back to my bedroom because I can only sit in front of the beaming heat for so long. BUT… I will say, ever since having people over for Weho Pride, my apt feels a lot lighter and brighter. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I still have boxes and products scattered throughout, but it feels like an organized cluttering. This is the clearest the place has looked in months, and the energy feels light and airy.
I’m working on approx 12 stories at the moment. I’m not going to lie… it’s definitely hard to stay on track with so many events. But the events have been so great, and more than ever, they’ve been excellent for networking. So I find myself saying yes more than no. But your girl is tired. And next week will only be crazier. In addition to regular events (including a masterclass with a very exciting makeup brand), I’m also doing an overnight stay at the Montage Laguna Beach tomorrow and then Yaamava Resort and Casino on Thurs. Both have spa activations, and I’ve been invited to stay overnight. I love a hotel hang more than most things in life, so I’m excited, but I also need to figure in work time. On Wednesday, I have 5 events (starting at 9:30 am, going til 9 pm at night). Also, having so much going on makes time fly by, and sometimes I just want things to slow down.
But instead of focusing on what’s to come, I want to fill you in this past week because it was extremely eventful and interesting.
I interviewed Zac Efron’s brother Dylan. It was via Zoom, but I definitely got a taste of his personality from the call. Super sweet and easy to chat with. The basis of the interview was fun, can’t wait to share! I also interviewed Lisa Mattam, founder of Sahajan Ayurvedic skincare. I interviewed her alongside The Handsmaid’s Tale star Yvonne Strahovski (an investor in the company). The duo hosted a lunch at The Proper Hotel in Santa Monica to honor the brand’s 10-year anniversary. I also did another interview to announce a new product category from a leading beauty brand (I’m sworn to secrecy for the moment ;) ). That will go live later this month.
In addition to interviews, there were endless events. We had the Jouer Cosmetics’ Celestial Summer Soirée, which was the launch of the brand’s Luminizing Glow Serum at the stunning Beverly Hills home of founder Christina Zilber. Long before I even connected with the brand, I followed Christina’s daughter Amelie on TikTok. She is literally the most gorgeous girl on the planet (OK, one of them). But the big draw is she stands for a ton of causes and uses her platform for good. She’s more than just a (very) pretty face. Anyway, the event was lovely. I dressed in shimmer to match the occasion. Everyone was so nice and gorgeous.
I also went to the launch of ThirdLove’s new TempSync collection. It’s a temperature-regulating bra geared toward women going through menopause and peri-menopause. That said, the bras are stylish, comfortably designed and can be for anyone. I’ve been wearing mine! Aside from the luncheon being held at San Vicente Bungalows—which was obviously so chic—it was hosted by one of my teen idols, Jennie Garth. It truly melted my heart seeing her seated right next to her +1 (and bestie) Gabrielle Carteris. I didn’t have a chance to speak to Jennie, but “Gaby” made a point to connect with me and we talked about all womanly things. I also had to slip in the fact that I’m a huge fan. She said her kids and Jennie’s kids went to school together and they’ve gotten closer and closer over the years. Jennie did, however, host an informational panel after the lunch, and her IRL personality totally shined through. She seems like so much fun. It made me happy.
I go to a lot of events, so meeting celebrities and other public figures doesn’t hit the way it would have years ago, but it really is cool to think back to my ‘90s (and beyond!) self, and know that I would be sitting at a 20-person lunch, just feet away from the actresses that shaped much of my childhood. FWIW, I did get to meet both Shannen and Luke (separately) before their passings. Both experiences were extremely rewarding, and I was left with the best feeling.
OK, more events! So the next day, I went to LA Mag’s June Pride Party, which featured Matt Bomer as its cover star. It was at the Maybourne Beverly Hills. And when I tell you it was a celeb-filled week, the day after that was the celebration of Molly Sims’ YSE Beauty Sephora launch. It was sooo cute and they had so much freaking food. I actually used to write for the brand’s SEO blog when they first launched, so what a full circle moment to see how far they’ve come (I’m pretty sure they have a completely different team now, so I didn’t spot any of the original folks I worked with behind the scenes).
There was also a Revive Collagen event at (yes, again) the Santa Monica Proper hotel. I went with my Substack bestie Amanda Lauren, and it was such a cute event but it was freezing. I honestly don’t know how it was that cold. I do have to say, a couple years ago I posted a TikTok about Revive Collagen, and how using it is a double-edged sword. Let’s just say it works… in more ways than one! I’ll leave it to you to watch.
Lastly, we made our way back to West Hollywood for the Pride event of all events. This one was for the girlies, and when I tell you it was literally every single LGBTQ+ woman I’ve ever met in my 18 years of LA life, I’m not joking. It was at Holloway House, and that place was packed. Pepa from Salt N Pepa performed live (she looked great at 58 - def had the Kris Jenner treatment ;)). It was super fun catching up with so many blasts from the past. I have to say, I was losing steam after we rode back from Santa Monica. Like, I was at the sushi restaurant with Amanda ordering Diet Coke. So unlike me!
Anyway! That caps things off. I’m tired just reading this, and there’s so much more I need to do before bed. But I’m super excited because I have a really insightful, expert-led Substack going live tomorrow morning. So stay tuned for that. I’m not going to put it behind a paywall because I want to spread the knowledge. Love you guys and hope you all had a great weekend. PS. One subscriber away from 500!! So grateful for the support.
