Dahvi's Weekend Debrief (6/1/25)
Weho Pride (!!!), #decluttergate, exciting work trip this week
So, I just got back from MY Coachella (*cough* Weho Pride). I’m glad I’m writing this, because I didn’t know if I would go all out on Sunday this year, or if I would take it easy. I actually rarely go to Pride on Sundays anymore. Your girl can’t hang like she used to. But because the kind team at Lucky Break PR hooked me up with a VIP OUTFEST wristband (shoutout to my subscriber Sahra Simpson!), I entertained the possibility. However, when I woke up this AM, I determined I wouldn’t make it down. Thankfully, all my electrolytes kept me OK for today, but I was totally down to rot away on TikTok.
Saturday was/is enough for me. I host an annual Pride Brunch (this year I called it Pride Brunch-ish because my time was spent decluttering, not cooking), and it was super small this time around. It’s basically just for friends who regularly go to Pride. But because I’ve been doing it for so many years, everyone is great. They always bring food/drinks/vibes—and this year they cleaned up so quickly and effectively that I canceled my housekeeper who was supposed to come this AM. It was a really nice feeling, and after MUCH effort, my apt is (relatively) clean. I mean there are some boxes and bins, but the place feels open and organized. I installed all my scent apps, too, so every room has a different aroma. Feels great.
Anyway, on a very last min whim this afternoon, my bestie Michael said he wanted to go down and meet up with our friend Kristin (Director of Cocktails at Casamigos who goes all out for Pride). So I threw myself together in 10 mins and headed down. It’s funny because 2009-2016 me would have taken the day so seriously and ran into a million people. Now, the only people I know are the ones who came to my brunch (with a few other run-ins here and there, but not at all what it used to be). Michael and I were sober today, so it was a different Pride vibe, but it was good because we just people-watched and chit-chatted until we decided we gave it a good go and it was time to eat.
I will say, over the last few years, Pride hasn’t hit the way it used to. But it’s still a special time for my close friends and me. I’d say 80% of my friends are LGBTQ, so it’s great to celebrate the community and know that everyone will come out (kids or not).
OK, back to #decluttergate… it was sooo bad. So bad that I won’t even share pics on here because it would truly shame me. I went through every box, every crevice, every cabinet and took out all the stuff I didn’t need. This included four huge bags of expired makeup/skincare that I was holding onto for dear life to film an ASMR TikTok, but after all that, Michael and I walked down to the basement of my apt and just dumped everything in the dumpster (don’t worry, we took out the recyclables). So there was no cute video. Next time lol.
I have an exciting week ahead. Going to Silversands Resort in Grenada (West Indies). If you’ve been anywhere near there, please let me know! It’s a solo trip, and I think it’ll be great. I’m getting an Indian Shirodhara wellness experience. I’ve never heard of anything that sounds more up my alley. This is the description: “This ancient Indian treatment focuses on opening the third eye chakra for spiritual awakening by dripping a warm blend of our signature herbal oils onto the forehead. This treatment includes Marma point head and scalp massage.” Seriously, so excited. The resort has two properties (Silversands Grande Anse and Silversands Beach House), so I’m staying at one for two nights and the other for two nights. I’m the queen of minimalist packing, and I would actually like to just pack everything in my Beis Weekender, however I think it could be hard on my shoulders, so I’ll probably just take a small suitcase.
Before I sign off for the night, question: Does anyone use a traditional flip-through planner as their calender? I just flipped to mine, realizing I have a way busier/deadline-heavy day than I thought. But having something I can easily flip to and write into is the greatest thing and I can’t imagine using a phone as my calendar. Not sure why I’m sharing this, but yeah I love it.
Also, going to a mushroom-themed dinner/drinks event at Eataly tomorrow (not those kind of mushrooms). I almost bailed because of my flight the next day, but when I got the confirmation today with the meal plan and vibe, it sounded way too good to pass up.
Ok, and with that, HAPPY PRIDE MONTH and Weho Pride weekend. Does anyone go to LA Pride? I’ve always wondered the vibe, because I feel like it’s so different from this one. I love Weho Pride and can’t imagine anything else in LA.
