Dahvi's Weekend Debrief (5/11/25)
Butt facials, Pelican Hill resort staycation + Just Like Heaven Fest
TW: Mother’s Day.
Before I get into my post, I want to acknowledge that I know today is very difficult for many. My heart goes out to anyone who has lost a parent or child, is estranged from their parent or child, or in some other way feels alienated or disconnected from the oft-triggering date. To be sensitive as possible, I’ll keep my Mother’s Day recap brief and at the very end of the post. If you feel triggered, I don’t blame you for signing off here. Please know I’m thinking of you and I’m here for anyone who needs support. <3

This weekend was really busy. I have to say I’m struggling to keep my eyes open, but I was unable to post my weekend update last week, so I can’t go back to back. Plus there was so much fun stuff brewing, I have to fill you in.
So, for starters, I had a little staycation at Pelican Hill resort in Newport Coast on Thursday night. I’d never been there, and it was so serene. The pool had lively energy, and the dining area had your typical RHOC-adjacent middle-agers gabbing over chardonnay and French fries. But as soon as you left that area, the place was quiet and calming. It’s hard taking these mid-week “trips,” because you kind of have to give up a day of work, so I did feel a little stressed at the beginning. But once I got a massage early the next morning, my cares dissipated. I used to never be a massage girlie, but once I realized they can make you feel energetically lighter, I’ve been more into them. This masseuse in particular worked on this kink I have in my lower back because of sleeping issues. When he finished, I felt like it still needed adjusting, but as soon as I started walking around I felt so free. It was crazy. I’d never felt better.
The hotel launched a Buona Notte Nighttime Rituals Series from 7-9pm within their spa, and they invited me to join. It started with a detailed nighttime skincare masterclass led by Natura Bissé. This followed tea time in the relaxation room, and concluded with a 30-minute guided meditation. They sent us off with tea and a mug and other sleep-centric goodies. This will be a quarterly event for the spa, with each one featuring a different set of rituals, but always centered around prepping the body for sleep. FWIW, I slept like a baby that night.
I rushed back on Friday to Weho, where John Reed luxury gym soft-launched its outdoor pool for media and influencers. Buttface had an aesthetician on hand, offering butt facials to anyone wanting to partake—and it was a sight to be seen. Some people got super into it. The brand offers a three-step protocol to create butt facials from home. Clearly a summer vacay must! The event also had Tooth Couture tooth gems on hand, and yes, tooth gem Dahvi is BACK! It was a sweltering hot day, but the vibes were vibing. I had so much fun.
Speaking of sweltering hot, Bianca and I braved the Pasadena, CA temps for an eight-hour day at Just Like Heaven Fest. There were some fun acts, but the first three hours were rough. Like it was too hot to do anything except sit and wait for it to cool down. But after all was said and done, we got a chance to see Toro Y Moi, Slowdive, Empire of the Sun and some acts she was particularly fond of. She was so thoughtful to get my ticket for me, and even though the weather was out of our control, we made the most of our day! Even Bath & Body Works had an activation there. I’m bummed I didn’t go through it, but it looked cool.
We both agreed this festival is really well-organized. Everything feels clean and safe, and there weren’t crazy lines. Because it’s geared toward elder millennials who love indie-electro/indie-rock, there were literally zero influencers there so things go a lot faster because most of the guests aren’t filming content. It’s a really interesting observation and contrast from other LA experiences. I will say, the experience made me realize I’m not the biggest festival person. I did the festival thing more in the past, but as I’ve gotten older, I think I’m much more of a nighttime indoor concert kind of gal, versus alllll day bopping around. I dunno though… Always subject to change.
Unrelated, but quick shoutout to Quince. They sent me four pieces for potential review on The Daily Beast. I didn’t know what to expect, but I put together a linen ensemble for the John Reed/Buttface event, and it was sooo cute and practical. Even in the sweltering heat, I didn’t feel like I was melting. Got a lot of compliments, too. See below (though granted, this was taken after a long day, so would probably look even better at the start).
Then today, I drove to OC to visit my parents for Mother’s Day. My mom and I went to the classic Irvine Spectrum and did a little mommy makeover at Nordstrom. It was really exciting because my mom isn’t a beauty girlie like me, but she certainly has a vibrant aura, so I knew she’d ease into her done-up look effortlessly. She left with Dior foundation and concealer, two Charlotte Tilbury blushes, and, most importantly, two brow products. The brows will be tricky because they’re extremely sparse (like mother like daughter), but when I saw the makeup artist demonstrate how to make them look full and dimensional using two different shades, it was mesmerizing. Going to try to replicate the look for her tomorrow before I head back to LA. Fingers crossed! My mom loves carousels, so we ate mediterranean for dinner and then hopped on those horses in motion! It was a cute day, and I know she had fun.
I did, however, have to bid adieu to these shoes that were holding on for dear life. They were an Amazon pair that are probably only meant to be worn once in a while, but I’m not a once-in-a-while girl. I will wear anything until it can’t be worn any longer. And such was the case with this stylish-albeit-cheaply made-and-destroyed pair. It only took walking around for four hours at the Spectrum to make the executive decision to toss. They had a great run. I loved ‘em. Maybe a repurchase?

ICYMI, Paris Hilton launched a skincare line called Parívie. I interviewed her 1:1 at her home in all her glory (and even popped into her Sliving Spa). HERE’s what she had to say!
I also interviewed Gigi Hadid’s hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos. How the whole thing panned out is a story in itself. So obviously The Met Gala is old news by 5pm on Tuesday, and me and his team agreed we’d do a story showcasing the getting ready experience, and also shedding light on his journey to the day. But we had to work fast to get it up before no one cared anymore. Well, on top of that, he had a flight to catch and didn’t realize it coincided with the time of our Zoom call. So we quickly hopped on the call while he was at the airport, and I whipped out a detailed story in record time. It all came together but that day was rough! He was great though. So lovely and offered wonderful insight.
**DOES ANYONE WORK WITH HOTEL(S) IN MANHATTAN (not in Midtown, but anywhere else)??? LMK!!
If you live in LA, I hope you survived the heatwave with flying colors. Did anyone go to a fun pool party this weekend? I wanna hear about it in the comments!
